The (not so) Old Fashioned. The old-fashioned is my favourite year-round sipper! It’s warm and comforting in the cold months, and refreshing and cool in the sultry summer days.
Conceived in the 1800s, the old-fashioned belongs to a realm of cocktails that even the most amateur drinker can spot from afar. However, did you also know that – while an old-fashioned mostly uses bourbon or whisky, it can also be made using any other spirit of your choice? Watch the video to see how much fun it is to make one as I go behind the bar with the most premium cognac in the market!
The cocktail I am making in this video is the Hennessy Very Special Old-Fashioned that I have come to love off-late. A pure, tropical nose that fades to reveal its oakiness, the Hennessy Very Special is a symphony in the mouth. The intense character and full-bodied flavours of the Hennessy Very Special are young and fabulous, something that any discerning whisky drinker would enjoy.
Here’s a peek into what goes into this classic cocktail:
60 ml Hennessy Very Special
1 brown sugar cube
4 dash Angostura bitters
Throw in all ingredients together, stir well and serve chilled. To finish off, garnish with an orange peel and a cinnamon stick.
